Bridget DiLaura is the Director of Therapeutic Learning for the Toneworks Community Enrichment Program. She attended Winona State University for her undergrad in special education receiving licenses in Learning Disabilities and Developmental Disabilities. She then attended Concordia St. Paul and received her Master’s Degree in Special Education with an emphasis in Autism Spectrum Disorders. She worked as a middle school special education teacher since 2014 before joining our team here at Toneworks in the summer of 2023.
When not at Toneworks, Bridget enjoys spending time with her family. She loves to play Yahtzee with her husband and chase around her toddler. She also is an avid reader and belongs to a book club she started with her friends.
What is your background?
Prior to Toneworks, I worked in the public schools as a special education teacher. I have my undergraduate degree in Special Education (Developmental Cognitive Disabilities and Learning Disabilities) and have my Master’s in Special Education (Autism Spectrum Disorders). I am still currently a licensed teacher. I have worked as a PCA and respite care provider for several years starting in my teens and into young adulthood. Supporting individuals with disabilities, along with their families, is a lifelong passion of mine.
What is your role at TLC?
“I am the Director of Therapeutic Learning. I support the TLC team in continued professional development, supporting with the design and implementation of person-centered interventions, and overseeing curriculum development. I also develop relationships with TLC client’s case managers and families to ensure that there is wrap around care and we are developing programming that impacts our clients at TLC and in their personal community. My role at TLC ranges from big picture goals for the program to helping with the day-to-day running of the program.”
Why do you like working at TLC?
I love working at TLC because I get to see people experience the joy of learning and developing friendships. Every day is a new adventure! This job keeps me on my toes and forces me to be creative in interventions. I also love learning from the clients and staff alike about new ideas and ways to see things!
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
Outside of work, I spend time with my husband and son. We like to go golfing and spend time at the park. I also enjoy reading and listening to audiobooks. I am in a book club/moms group that I created with a few friends to discuss
literature and parenting.
What is a fun fact about you?
My fun fact is that I absolutely love Oreos! Oreos and Diet Coke are my weakness.
